I represent clients dealing with all types of immigration issues. Family or business visa applications, to green card application, to criminal defense, and more. Below are the types of cases I handle.
Criminal and Deportation
I represent clients facing deportation and criminal charges. It is crucial for clients that have immigration consequences, and criminal charges, to have an attorney that understands both areas of the law. If you are charged with a crime, and may be deported, or lose your status as a legal resident, I can represent you in both parts of your case. I also represent clients who received ineffective assistance from their criminal lawyers in advising them about immigration consequences. In 2010, the United States Supreme Court held in Padilla v. Commonwealth of Kentucky that when you plead guilty to a crime, you have a right to be informed of the likelihood of your being deported. 559 U.S. 356 (2010). I consult with clients to see if they have a possible claim to have their conviction reversed. I can represent you in your Padilla claim.
Green Cards and Visa Applications
I help people applying for green cards and all types of visas. (business, student, others) I wrote an extensive article for the American Bar Association on different types visas and how I can help clients in getting visas. You can read a free copy of my article, “Immigration Law: A Primer”, by clicking here. People misunderstand visa process and law all of the time. I have clients who overstay their visas and need help. If retained early on, I can help you or a loved one complete the procedure correctly and to advise them of how to keep their status current and lawful.
